Other Hair tips: If you have frizzy hair put two to three tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda through your hair each time it is washed, this reduces the frizziness. Thanks to Jemma Louise Harrison for sending us this one. For flyaway or hair that suffers with static electricity, take a sheet of your favourite dryer fabric softener (like Bounce) and rub it on your hair. The static will disappear and your hair also smells nice. As in most things, there are two points of view and I have received the following interesting and informative response to the above tip - "I'd think twice about using fabric softener and/or fabric softener sheets for any reason and especially applying direct to one's skin. Also don't be mislead by something that "smells nice". Modern synthetic scents are not what they used to be, even if the synthetic fragrance chemical industry wishes with all its heart that you believe that. An analysis done on six popular fragrances by one lab and on one of those six by a second lab, revealed toxic chemicals about which we know too little. What we do know is these synthetic scents are irritants and sensitizers and some are known or suspected neurotoxins, carcinogens and teratogens (adversely affecting the development of embryo or fetus (foetus). To remove chewing gum from hair use peanut butter. This tip has been sent in by numerous contributors one of which was Susan Peters - thanks. I have received another method for removing chewing gum, but I don't know if you would want to try it. Break off a piece of chocolate and chew until soft, put gum affected hair into mouth (yuc, the "hairiest" part of this exercise), much for a few seconds and, presto, no more gum in hair. Thank you Kimmo Linkama from Finland for this one. After washing hair always wait until it is 70% dry before attempting to blow dry. This will not only be a lot quicker but also give better results. If your roots are greasy soak some cotton wool in witch hazel, cologne or skin tonic and rub all over scalp. Out of conditioner, try one of these substitutes:- Mix avocado and vegetable oil into a thick paste, massage into hair and leave for 20 minutes. Wash out well. This is an excellent deep moisturiser. Although the basic concept behind hair transplantation is rather simple, self-proclaimed "experts" have shrouded the field in mystery and these myths have been perpetuated over the years. The hair growing on the sides and lower part of the back of the head is permanent hair in most people. It persists even in the face of the most extreme degree of Male Pattern Baldness. This permanent hair can be redistributed to cover the areas of the head where the hair has thinned or that have become bald. All hair restoration procedures work through the redistribution of this permanent hair. Hair transplants have evolved dramatically over the past decade. Today, when done right, hair transplants are a very refined outpatient procedure that produces full and natural looking results. Selecting the right hair transplant procedure and physician is absolutely critical. When performed correctly not even your hair stylist will detect that you had hair transplants. But the procedure and hair transplant clinic you select is absolutely critical since most hair transplant surgeons today are still using outdated procedures. This site is dedicated to providing you with the information and tools you need to avoid the pitfalls and achieve great results. The following information will help you understand the difference between truly state of the art and natural hair transplants and those that are inferior. How Hair Transplants work Sorry to burst your bubble. But you need to know that your hair will never be as full as it was before you started to thin. Hair restoration surgery simply relocates bald resistant hair follicles from donor area to your thinning areas. View an animation of how a hair transplant works. The best hair transplant procedure - easy on the patient but hard on the staff The reason why only a minority of hair transplant surgeons do truly state of the art hair transplants is because the best procedures requires very high levels of skill, experience, and staff time. To achieve this level of quality a clinic typically needs a large and well trained staff that is dedicated to doing hair transplants. This procedure produces dramatic and life long advantages for the patient such as naturalness and fullness in only one surgical session, rapid healing, and optimal use of their limited donor hair. However, many clinics are not willing to dedicate the time and resources to develop this optimal capability. The procedure that is best for the patient. A great hair transplant is the result of using a state of the art surgical procedure and performing it with great skill and artistry. Today the acknowledged “gold standard" in hair transplant surgery is called “Follicular Unit Hair Transplantation” or FUT for short. This hair transplant procedure enables a patient to achieve extremely natural results because it recreates and mimics the way a person’s hair grows naturally, hair for hair.
